After a tiny bit of gentle pressure, :) I've been encouraged to get back to posting. :) So, I last said that it had been a while since I'd made cupcakes so I made some. True! I've actually made two batches. The first that there were teaser pictures of were for
Jessica's birthday in my Bible study. They were neopolitan sundae cupcakes from Cupcakes from the Cake Mix Doctor by Anne Byrn
book that my mom gave me as a Christmas gift! You divide the batter in thirds and flavor the chocolate section with chocolate syrup and the strawberry section with jello powder. The cupcakes were really yummy if I may say so myself.

what birthday cupcake is complete without ice cream?
neopolitan cake screamed for neopolitan ice cream in my book!
The second set of cupcakes was for a Valentine's dinner party
and I honestly didn't love them as much as I'd wanted to. Chocolate chip cookie dough cupcakes, frozen cookie dough in the middle of yellow cake with mini chips added to the cake, brown sugar buttercream and heart shaped chocolate chip cookies on top. The cake part really was actually pretty good just a little too rich I think. The brown sugar buttercream was a complete flop! Luckily Adrian tasted it while I was mixing it and it tasted like pure butter. It was gross. He was so great to try to salvage it for me by mixing up a second batch of the brown sugar base and then we decided to add powdered sugar which it didn't have any of in the first place and it was workable but super rich and not that good to me. Anyway, I didn't get any pictures of the finished products but I did really enjoy my vintage heart cookie cutters to make the cookies for the tops.
Hope you all had a wonderful Valentine's! We had a great evening out at a super restaurant in Dallas!

I make a chocolate chip cookie dough chocolate cupcake with chocolate buttercream icing from the cupcake doctor cookbook and they are delicious! You should try that one! I am glad you are back blogging!
Wow, Kelly!
I peeked at your blog after making some visits to Jeremy's and Mandy's---everything is so beautiful! I'm feeling very inspired to eat some cupcakes...
Woo-hoo! A new post! I love the Cake Mix Doctor book, but I had no idea about the Cupcake book. Out of all the "fancy" desserts I make regularly, Pat would rather have cupcakes ANYDAY. I should probably get that book just for his sake. Then, maybe I could combine my love for "fancier" desserts with his love for cupcakes.
You are so precious to me and I LOVE reading your blog!!
p.s. How was your fancy breakfast on Monday night?
