a box is the best toy

Do you remember playing in boxes as a child?

In particular I remember a huge refrigerator (?) box that my brother and I played in in the back yard. We would both get in it and try to make it roll from the inside and then one of us would get out and push it so that the person inside would be tumbling inside the box, etc. We had so much fun.

Boxes really are the best toys, are they not?

Do you have a favorite memory of playing in boxes?

Think of all the money that parents could save on toys if they just knew this little secret.

Gramps owned a hardware & appliance store when we were little. Every summer he would save a couple of refrigerator and oven boxes for us to play in. We'd have those things out in the yard for weeks. My favorite memory is turning a fridge box into an airplane. We cut out windows, painted it, and served peanuts and POG! Soooo fun!

One time, my parents got a refrigerator box and Elizabeth and I decorated it to look like a house. We took our dolls and some furniture inside, as well as coloring some 8 x 11 sheets of "wallpaper"! So fun. Thanks for helping me reminisce today!

Of course, loved boxes growing up. My twins remember there preK class that made an Ark out of refridg boxes. They loved it. Took up half the room.

Oh, how precious! I loved the refrigerator box, too, and we decorated it and used cup "phones". :) Thanks for your comment - I am glad you found me...while we work through this whole motherhood thing!

It's the truth!
WHY haven't we all just gotten a bunch of free boxes and saved our money? I mean, seriously? Duh! ;)
