There is a Glencoe in Scotland. In my memory of history it seems that there were a lot of Scottish settlers in the Appalacian mountains (many years ago), so I am going to throw out a wild guess and say that you are driving through West Virginia. I am probably completely wrong, but I am resisting very hard the urge to google it.
