My number one go to spice is really an herb: rosemary, basil is a close second. I also love Jane's Krazy Mixed Up Seasoning and I use it in almost everything.
Cinnamon is the spice I always buy for fear that we'll run out (which would be awful because the boys live on it).
My "go to" spices are Lowry's Seasoned Salt, basil, celery seed, and Chinese Five-Spice. Often if I make something that is complimented on it has one of the latter two spices in it. The one I always buy more of and then realize I already bought another one and it was in pantry; not spice rack is Paprika (gotta love those deviled eggs for the hubby) and Poppy Seed (again, poppy seed chicken for the hubby). ~ Renae Moore Cates
Garlic powder and Garlic salt are our go to spices which means they are also the ones we buy in excess b/c we use them SO much! What can I say, we LOVE garlic!!!

Garlic powder and onion powder, for sure.
By the way, I absolutely LOVE your "Signs of a great dinner party" blog. You are so creative!!
I always end up buying poppyseed and having at least 3 at home.
Mine are cumin and cinnamon... I have about 3 containers of each up in my spice cabinet.
