white chocolate covered cranberries

The holidays are approaching. I'm more excited this year than I've been in awhile. I think it definitely has something to do with having a little one.

Would you like a recipe for a holiday treat that makes a great gift?

It actually can't even really be considered a "recipe" I wouldn't say.

White chocolate covered cranberries are a very, very tasty treat. All you have to do is buy raw, fresh cranberries and dip them in melted white chocolate or actually a white almond bark product something like this. Most grocery stores carry it too and I don't think it's that expensive. Then you just let them dry.

It's not at all hard but it does require a lot of patience *or* a group of really fun people to work with so that you're totally distracted from the mindless task you're repeating.

These photos all came from several years ago actually (pre-blogging days for me) as you can see by the date stamp. I had the privilege of working with a bunch of really cool, selfless and hardworking people in the singles group at my church to make up a zillion bags of these to be sold at the "Incredible Edibles" shoppe as part of the New Friends New Life Holiday Home Tour fundraiser.

New Friends New Life is a really incredible ministry that helps women who are involved in sexually oriented businesses to get out. It is a truly inspiring ministry. Please check out one of the links I've included if you'd like to learn more.

If you make white chocolate covered cranberries this holiday season, I'd love to know what you think.

Also, I'd love to hear from some of you who read my blog but don't usually comment. :)

When a girl's not on facebook she's got to hear from her friends somehow, right?

If you are someone who dipped cranberries, made cookie mixes, attended the NFNL home tour, or somehow found yourself reliving memories from this post, I'd love to hear from you in the comment section today! Thanks!! Kelly

This girl not on facebook either. These look yummy. But are the cranberries soft, since they are fresh?

PS you may get more comments without word verification. I took it off and has been fine.

Yum! What a good idea, and one I've never seen before. I think I may try these -- I'm looking for easy, mindless gift recipes this year.

I'm not into cranberries or white chocolate. :-) But they look fun. I think the kids and I are going to dip marshmallows in milk chocolate and add some sprinkles to hand out to their friends. :-) We've done the pretzel sticks in candy and sprinkles before too!

I've done this for several years, and just LOVE them! You can also dip a cluster of them and let them dry. It's a little less tedius, but not quite as pretty :)

I'm not that into cranberries either, but these are delish! I remember sitting in the milk truck with you one year - were we tying ribbon on these bags and bags and bags of cranberries? That was a ridiculously warm home tour year.

Oh my, how these pictures bring back memories! I kept looking at them to see if maybe those were my hands in the pictures:) I don't even want to think about how many cranberries we dipped!!!! But, it was fun! Didn't we do it 2 years in a row? I can't remember now. It seroiusly brought back a lot of memories I hadn't thought of in a LONG time!!!

I love this idea!

A couple of questions:
Do they need to be refrigerated? Is there a recommended "shelf life" if for instance you make them ahead of time for gifts?

I had heard about this, but don't think I'd ever seen them. Yummy looking!!

This totally brought back memories of making Christmas morning cranberry bread, as well as cookie mixes for the NFNL holiday home tour. I remember our singles group spending many hours together putting them together for them to sell. I still have the recipe for the bread and thought about making it this year. I don't think I was there the year you did the white chocolate covered cranberries. Looks and sounds yummy, though!

Wow! Those look good. I bet that's a yummy combo. The tartness of cranberries and the sweetness of chocolate.

I tried these at a cranberry festival in northern WI. they are great and I plan on making them for the holidays. Do you know how long they keep? and should they be refriderated?

I usually do refrigerate them and I am not sure how long they last, sorry! We always eat them too fast! :) Kelly
